Originally from Sundergarh, Orissa, she is a Khadia tribal and a pioneer climate advocate. She is a second-generation learner pursuing her Master's degree in Regulatory Governance from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. Her journey to education stands testimony to immense commitment towards environmental sustainability and social justice, portraying how education and determination can change a community.

Young people, however, have nothing to worry as they carry some grace for themselves. In 2020, Archana was the only Indian selected to the Youth Advisory Group on Climate Change of the UN Secretary-General. Such a prestigious position confirms her excellence in climate advocacy, where her ability to address issues on youth engagement in environmental subjects in an international platform is shown. Indeed, it can be deduced from this appointment that she is not merely engaged in promoting sustainable practices but would indeed advocate that the youth are an important stakeholder in actions against the climate crisis.

Archana's activities at Vasundhara as a Research Officer occupy most aspects ranging from Forest Rights to Land Rights and Climate Justice. Documentation and articulation of the cultural practices of the indigenous communities involve her to ensure that the voices of these communities are loud within their own internal environment governance. Her advocacy thus focuses on the role of indigenous peoples in conservation of forests and sustainable living.

Archana Soreng is set to empower indigenous youth through various regional and national efforts. She was the former National Convener of the Tribal Commission at the Adivasi Yuva Chetna Manch and works with other youth groups sustaining traditional knowledge and practices. This inspiring work calls upon the next generation to take a proactive stance against the climate crisis and conserve their culture.
