Rela

Rela dance is a Gond people's folk dance of Central India, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh and East Vidarbha region of Maharashtra. It is a distinctive dance form of Vidarbha. This dance is danced during harvest time, when fresh grains such as rice (paddy) are brought home from the fields.

Performance

This dance is primarily danced throughout the month of Diwali and Chaitra, the dance is not only ritualistic but it is an integral part of daily life within a Gond community. This dance is also danced as entertainment. Men, women, and young people of all ages engage in this and have fun with the traditional dance.

Not only physical exercise, it is conducted in a special attire like ghungru and kalanga and men's dhoti. Music and Instruments like dhol, nargi, surnai and kalikom.
