Beta Kurumba Musical Instruments, tamil nadu

The Beta Kurumbas are adept at making the traditional musical instruments like Mattalam (Taulu), Drum (Thamti) and Gujal (Kalalu) through their cultural practices, which are a major part of their practices. These musical instruments are significant during important occasions such as festivals and rituals, and informed storytelling actions. The Mullu Kurumbas, on the other hand, are still able to practice the vibrant folk traditions through dance forms like Vattakali, a dance form during during marriages, and Kolkali, in temple rituals. The use of group dances are still distinct as they do not dance with instruments, but with sustained rhythm singing, or vocals.
