Toda Tribal Dance , tamil nadu

Toda dance plays an important role in their culture, always performed in circular formations by males and females alike, and at festivals or important ceremonies. Dances are fluid movements, often representing nature or daily life. Their oral literature, especially their folk songs that are rich in poetic expressions (Emeneau, 1971), continue their oral tradition. While they do not have particular instruments, dances are accompanied by rhythmic foot footwork and singing and clapping hands. Themes in the songs refer to nature, community life preserving the Toda heritage, and spirituality, as well.
