Draupadi Tiria is an accomplished sericulture farmer from the Keonjhar district. Coming from a humble background, she joined silk farming nearly two decades ago to overcome financial challenges. Her dedication and perseverance have led her to become a role model in her community, showing how traditional silk farming practices can be transformed into profitable ventures. Her achievements in sericulture earned her the National Award of Excellence in 2014-15. Draupadi Tiria ventured into silk farming 20 years ago, focusing on Tasar silk production. Beginning her journey with limited resources, she developed her skills and became proficient in producing high-quality Tasar silk. Her work has not only improved her financial status but also encouraged other women in her community to pursue silk farming as a viable livelihood, significantly impacting their economic stability.

Draupadi joined the Tangiriapal Tasar Rearer Cooperative Society, which provided her with support, resources, and a community to share knowledge and practices. With TRCS's assistance, she was able to establish a private grainage that produces high-quality Tasar DFLS (Disease-Free Layings), which she uses for her commercial reeling processes. This cooperative society helped Draupadi scale her business, allowing her to support other farmers as well. Draupadi Tiria's success has inspired many women in her community to pursue sericulture, adapting to modern market needs and agricultural techniques for higher profitability. Through her leadership, she has introduced new farming techniques, increased productivity, and created sustainable income opportunities.
