It has a very long and narrow neck, a glassy body, and a wide base, which is ideal to store liquids and grains. The natural curvature of the gourd base is artistically preserved and enhanced to suit domestic needs. The chestnut color of the vessel is normally a result of aging or intentional smoke treatment, and brings a long life to it as well. Its form is functional but also shows how beautiful the tribes are when it comes to aesthetics and practical design.Traditionally, this kind of gourd vessel is used by Bonda women to fetch water, ferment drinks or store essential home craft items in gourd containers. The lightweight yet sturdy gourd is a perfect choice for daily use in rural India. This practice also gives evidence before the world about the concern of Bonda tribe people towards healthy and eco-friendly living, as they do not exploit the natural world in any sense.
