description
Conical red helmet, traditional headgear of Naga tribe, made of plaited cane strips and split bamboo. Worn by warriors or during ceremonies, is a great artisanal heritage and the symbol of identity.
The exterior of the helmet is deep red, lacquered until glossy, and tightly woven with very fine cane strips, demonstrating great craftsmanship and attention to detail. A small triangular opening seems to punctuate the top on one side, making for a distinctive visual. Yellow-colored skins of orchids are inserted as random decorative features to make a strong contrast to the red, enhancing the aesthetic value. The inner layer was made of woven split bamboo for durability and comfort to the wearer. The braiding in the middle therefore underscores a multi-material construction, which is typical of traditional tribal gear.
