short description
With its very extensive culture and distinct attire, Angami Naga tribe is one of the prominent Naga tribes from the northeastern state of Nagaland. Much of their traditional attire has an attachment of deep symbolic meaning towards it. Of their various traditional garments, one very unique example of Angami weaving and aesthetic preference is the Angami Naga skirt. This course, off-white cotton cloth is very durable and comfortable for the weather of the state. Its base color is off white, which will look very natural, while black stripes run evenly at regular intervals across the fabric to give it a very unique visual effect. These stripes have a great meaning in the Angami culture; they may signify life and nature or even different aspects of tribal heritage and indeed have a very special symbolic meaning in themselves

The narrow brown borders along the skirt contrast beautifully to its off-white fabric. These brown borders are further accentuated by elaborate black and white designs as common to the Naga textiles. These woven patterns are symbolic, their connotations being the land, the people, and the spirit. Very much add to the depicting and soaking designs in which the Angami Naga's strong reflection of culture shows and its expertise in the craft of textiles. It is because of such clothes that the Angami tribe has a close bondage with the mother environment through which the fabric works and weaves become a significant heritage of their culture
