They twist or braid them nicely to create strong cords for decoration. Some of the necklaces in the bunch have been finished with tassels, giving a spirited yet elegant flair to the heart. Usually worn during social gatherings, rituals, and festive occasions, this necklace of beads embellishes the attire and symbolizes unity, tradition, and festival. Wearing such a necklace in multiple strands is yet another way for the tribe to express abundance and collective identity. The making of such necklaces is more often than not a group activity in which the older women impart knowledge of the tradition to younger women. By this, knowledge remains continuous within the community, thereby cementing social ties.
