Being made from a single block of wood, it speaks volumes for the artisan's finesse and also speaks about the age-old tradition of narrative woodcarving through the ages by Sutradhar tribe of Assam. It rests upon a semi-circular base and is suffused with warmth and tenderness. Mother Yashoda with an expression of reposeful and affectionate smile gently cradles baby Krishna in her left arm, capturing that timeless moment of divine motherhood. Stylistic features but expressive, the figures; caring and suggestive of divine femininity is painted in soft yellow; Yashoda's body is nurturing and suggestive of divine femininity.
