Gadaba belongs to one of the most particularly vulnerable tribal groups (PVTGs) in India located in the southern belt of Odisha and parts of Andhra Pradesh. Cultural and linguistic identities are of their own uniqueness along with their own traditional tools that are made according to the very specific southern forest-covered and hilly terrains they inhabit. This very iron axe in particular speaks of their cuteness towards self-sufficiency and indigenous knowledge and even more widely the sustenance lifestyle. Not only an axe, it has a lot of culture attached to it, and very often it participates in rituals at the life of the community. The iron work as well as the finishing coupled with the woodwork will reflect the closeness of the tribe with its environment and their ancestral skill in tool-making.
