short description
What can be termed as the indigenous weapon-tactical defence combination is this traditional bamboo arrows set of the Naga tribe from Nagaland. An arrow bundle containing 43 bamboo spikes has been so fashioned that each spike has its pointed ends both on the upper and lower sides. Sharp sticks are not arrows; they are not shot from a bow. These suckers were made for defensive purposes and thrust into the ground or hidden in the woods so that the enemy's approach would injure himself while approaching it. The spikes, quiver by a fine cane strip woven around a bamboo element, keeps within-the Naga people's mastery of the craft.

Its compact and tight fitting assured that the arrows would be very easy to carry with the great use reserved for them while calling upon fights by the tribes. As such, Naga tribes engaged in war and internecine skirmishes, and such tools were functional and strategically clever. These spears serve as trap forms hidden with spikes, with paths along spy such additional spikes being along enemy trails or closely bordering the outer villages and hamlets as part of the tribe's passive defense mechanism. Apart from war, these arrows are a centuries-old bastion of cultural identity and martial tradition of the Nagas. These arrowheads have found their way into history as one of the most valuable elements of material culture of Northeast India.
