short description
The very small cylindrical sections of bamboo from which the vessel is made. Prepared from selected segments such that the natural node is kept at the bottom and a circular base is created. This brilliant design using bamboo nodes prevents any spillage and allows for no use of putty or glues. The present utility is mainly for drinking water; however, it may be used also for 'zu' or rice beer and other traditional beverages. It is in the body of this vessel that a handle was created, which was made from cane strips tightly wound and tied together into a loop or grip.

Cane, with all its strength, flexibility, and fine weaving capability, is something that the Naga artisans have mastered over the ages. Appreciably, the handles also serve as an embellishment to carry the vessel with ease and high functionality. These bamboo drinking vessels tell of the sustainable lifestyle and artistry of the Naga. Each by itself is remarkable, with mostly hand-making by the household or the community, continues to be used in festivals, rituals, and community feasts-an indication of the deeper links that the tribe has with nature and tradition.
