The Liangmai are marked by their rich cultural traditions and artisanal practices. Such gourd bottles were often put into good use on the occasion of village feasts, festivals, or routine household services. They are, however, not just naturally unique; they also embody intangible traditional values which revive some of their contemporary employments in the life of the community.

"Tribal Arts of Nagaland" – Ministry of Tribal Affairs This couple of gourd ladles has come from the Liangmai Naga tribe, Nagaland, which is an evidential heritage of the craftsmanship in perfect eco-friendly art of that tribe. These ladles have been made out of matured and hollowed gourd, where one measures larger for any communal use yet another is made for household or personal servings.
Each ladle has a unique shape with a wide circular bowl best suitable for the scooping and serving of liquids, including water, rice beer, or broth. The handles are made from natural materials, most likely bamboo or wood, with cylindrical shapes to allow comfortable grip. A distinctive feature of these ladles is that at the top, there is a groove: it adds value on aesthetics and functionality of grip.
