description
This iron sword is a traditional weapon of the Naga tribe among various other indigenous communities in Nagaland, India. Such a sword typically imbodies cultural values and artistry of the Naga peoples. This artifact as an example of exceptional metalworking skills and symbolic designs representative of Naga weaponry.
The sword has a long, straight iron blade with a rectangular shape, broad at the top, and narrowing down towards the center. It has been designed such that it can slash and thrust. The blade is fixed inside a small iron handle. One of the most distinguishing features of this sword is its crossbar shaped like wings of a flying bird that could convey agility and independence or strength-all desirable qualities for a warrior in Naga tribes.
The lower part of the handle is complementarily bulbous and circular to provide a better grip while handling it. Such a sword was also used; prestige and ceremonial trophy it was for use.
This edifice truly describes tribal craftsmanship, symbolism, and utility as it brings to light the war traditions among the people of Naga.
