short description
The Melabe's spear embodies the traditional weapon of the Naga tribe. Its weapons are very much distinguished, aesthetically, and incidentally, by virtue of their craftsmanship and functional design. The Nagas are the people on the northeastern hills of India, Nagaland, and have a lively heritage of warriors. The association of their weapons, in fact, with every aspect of their culture gives an identity to the Nagas culturally, invokes rituals, and finds place in their daily life. This specific spear comprises a long, leaf-shaped iron head, expertly forged with a cylindrical socket at the base for secure attaching to the shaft. A notable feature in the spearhead is the presence of two sharp barbs placed on the lateral edges closer to the base to better grip the target and penetrate it whether for hunting or combat.

description
The lower part of the spearhead, including the socket, is often engraved with designs as a result of which the designs reflect both the artistic influence of the tribe as well as the ceremonial importance of such weapons. It is a long, cylindrical wooden pole narrowing to a conical end at the bottom. In the end, it fuses itself snugly into the iron socket of this, forming a powerful and balanced weapon for throwing and thrusting. The woods locally acquired and the forms of iron as well reveal how the tribe lives close to its environment and has a good level of skill in metalwork. Melabe's spear is an emblem of warrior virtue among the Naga people, combining form, function, and purpose under a cultural roof.
