Eight plaited cane straps are wound around the sheath at irregular intervals and hold the structure in place against abrasion. The accompanying waist belt, constructed of circular cane, fastened with use of two simple cane straps. Apart from this, extension is provided to sheath with one more cane strap to secure the dao to be carried comfortably and not lose around the waist. This accessory in traditional line reflects the intimate knowledge of Shan tribe over nature, using wood and cane to make tough, effective implements that serve essential daily purposes of culture in life.
