This round basket is a tribal object created by the Baiga tribe of Madhya Pradesh, said to be another instance of tribal craft and inventiveness. Constructed mainly from the leaves of a Mahua tree, the basket has a tapered opening for neat stowing away of grains or small items. The Mahua tree is famous among tribal communities because it is useful; its leaves are tough and pliable, suitable for being woven into baskets that bear the charm of nature.The basket is supported by a kind of bamboo splits frame on top, contributing to the strength and functionality of the basket. Bamboo is an easily accessible material in the area whereas the support allows flexibility in shaping of the basket. The bamboo splits are neatly tied around the mouth of the basket to form a handle at the top so that the basket can easily be lifted.

An important storage basket for grains, it is one of earlier animals that BNB used by the Baiga tribes in their day-to-day sustenance, symbolizing the tribes' sustainable existence with nature.
