Assam, or Kamrup Pradesh, is famous not only for its luscious natural beauty but also for vibrant and jolly folk music, and, of course, for the world-famous temple of Goddess Kamakhya. Their cultural heritage is very much grounded in Kamrupi folk songs, along with Bihu melodies and, of course, the inimitable compositions of various tribal communities.
The famous artist, Ranjit Gogoi, and his fellow musicians had given quite a captivating medley of Assamese folk songs in order to create a musically melodious and diverse experience. The show kicked off with the agitating beats of Assamese drums, instilling the very atmosphere with fever. Devotional songs by the two saints of Assam-Sri Shankardeb and Sri Madhavdeber—were Baur songs, followed by the beats of Assamese Khol, and took on a very devotional essence altogether.

Folk songs from the main tribes of Assam-Hajong, Karbi, and Rabha-were also showcased. The tea garden workers who came to Assam from Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, West Bengal, and Bihar constructed their own folk traditions, which connect to Assamese music in the form of Jhumur. Performers captured the true essence of laborers' soulful expressions while performing Jhumur.

Bodo, the largest tribe in Assam, is a treasure house of songs and music. The audience really loved the fusion of 'Bor Doi Sikhla' with the song 'Bagurumba.' Other folk showcases were Kamrupi folklore, a Tiwa harvest song, and the love ballad from Goalpara, 'Bhalo Kodiya Bajao Re Datra.' The event concluded with singing a lively Bihu song, which electrified the audience.
