The symbol of marital rites and protection for married women in Rajasthan, the Ivory Rajasthan Bangle is an important traditional adornment used by married females of the various tribes in Rajasthan to represent their identity. These are absolutely white, commonly made of ivory or bone and worn in different sizes on upper and lower arms, all for a distinctive and beautiful look: plain bangles.

Thus, in the Rajasthani tribal community, bangles are not ornaments only. They are sacred objects of marriage. As soon as a woman marries, she will put this ornament into her body and remove it never during her married life. It is believed that the bangles act as magic and are auspicious for efficient use, keeping off the evil eye and making married life enjoyable. Moreover, a woman is believed to have labor pain made easy if she has these bangles on her and also ensures good health for herself and the baby.

Carving the bangles follows ancient traditional handicraft techniques, with artisans forming these from ivory, bone, or synthetic substitutes. But because of ethical issues on the use of ivory, many women today prefer to use lac or plastic bangles and keep the symbolic tradition alive. "Most of the times, even with changing times, the Rajasthani tribal woman puts these bangles on and remains tied up to keep the culture alive and the spiritual significance associated with it." The occasion will be seen more on the opening day of marriage, festivals, and religious ceremonies, paving the way to the deeper cultural aspects of the Rajasthani tribal communities.
