Banwang Losu is a Wancho teacher from Longding (Arunachal Pradesh) who developed a script for the Wancho language. The Roman and Devanagari scripts were unable to fully represent the Wancho language, so he began working on a new script in 2001 while in Class XI. He drew inspiration from nature, which is an integral part of tribal life, and dedicated 11 years to creating the Wancho script, which he finished in 2012. In 2019, the script was included in the Unicode Consortium through collaboration with fontographer Michael Everson, allowing for use on digital platforms.

An animated primer for the script was later developed by Wangdan Wampan, a graduate from the National Institute of Design (NID). Losu authored the book Wancho Script in 2013, and he creates primers and workbooks for schools. He also founded the Wancho Literary Mission Team and teachers' training workshops and initiated Wancho Language Certification in order to develop the ability of teachers to teach in the language, with support from the government of Arunachal Pradesh and various online organizations at a local level.
