The following is the most phenomenal festival of the Hindu community that actually occurs during February-March in honor of Lord Shiva, the God of destruction and transformation among the three gods known in the trio of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. Some people observe fasts at home and hold vigils all night, add their sacrifice to the penances, chant sacred hymns in praise of Shiva and offer rites at temples praying for blessings and awakening. The Jyotirlinga places such as Kashi Vishwanath, Somnath, and Mahakaleshwar are noted for holding grand rejoicing during such festivals.

The agricultural community in Andhra Pradesh observes both these festivals-Panduga and Eruvaka-as the agricultural cycle. Housewives engage with the Vrathams a Savara and Nomus like Shravana Mangala Varamu and Kartika Somavaramu for the prosperity and welfare of the family.
The hill tribes celebrate this month-long festival called Chaitra - their mark for the above-mentioned period at the beginning of post-harvest. The toil will yield fruits during the harvest; the people will indulge in dancing, singing, and merry-making for an entire month, celebrating their strong bond with nature and culture. Maha Shivratri is a celebration above being important in religion; it is a celebratory unifying force among various communities across India in which devotion, gaiety, and renunciation coexist.
