It is mainly in India that Dawoodi Bohra can be found, mainly as members of the Shia Muslim sect having their own style of traditional garment, Libas al-Anwar. For women, this entails a traditional wear called Rahmatan lil-alamin: rida is a two-piece outfit-a cape-like upper garment (pardi) covering the shoulders and extending down, with a full-length skirt (lehenga or ghaghra). The bright colors and extravagant designs of the rida capture the cultural essence of the community

The beautiful dress assemblages of the Dawoodi Bohra women mainly include a scarf, a bodice, and a petticoat; all these, however, goes under a dark silk burqa. The petticoat is the undergarment for the women and is made of cotton or silk or any other material. The norm of wearing the rida has evidently taken over in the community and is still being followed.
Old women of the Bohra community today prefer to wear petticoats as garment bottoms instead of traditional izar (loose-fitting pants). These petticoats are made of synthetic striped fabrics and stitched using a mix of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary textile means. This showcases the respect that the community has for its traditional way of life while also making use of modern resources and techniques.
