At both ends of the turban, intricate woven rhomboid designs are present, created with black and yellow thread. Not only do such signs beautify the object but also hold deeper meanings culturally. Rhomboid is one of the common geometric patterns that finds prominence in various indigenous textiles and is generally believed to represent balance, unity, and the tie between the world and its natural surroundings. This cotton turban used by chiefs of the Mikir community on ceremonial occasions, very important rites, and such occasions bears witness to his leadership role in the community as authority and esteem in the society that has rich textile tradition.
