description
This Cotton Bag of the Seesaw Tribe is more than a mere object carried by its men. Indeed, it is a functional artifact, but it has a much deeper meaning, having been designed to testify about the identity and shared community traditions through its sophisticated designs and embellishments.
A cotton bag that resembles a near square, making it most suitable for day-to-day use or ceremonial purposes; being that it has a long strap, one could have it hanging over the shoulder. In addition, its top surface has painstakingly woven geometric motifs woven in the earthy colors of brown, black, and green, representing traditional tribal patterns and symmetry. The heirlooms are accompanied by rows of shiny beads that are includes among others blue, green, white, and brown. Hanging from the fringes enlightened through beads provide a dynamic texture. Another unique band of red cotton cloth is attached to the strap and embroidered with three neat rows of cowrie shells said to raise wealth, fertility, and protection in tribal belief systems.
