At the mouth's edges are added artistic embellishments through addition of more woven bamboo strips to set the mouth up as against the ordinary basket. The rim of the basket is thus made sturdy with strips of a strong bamboo, and so has stability and long life. And for further strengthening of the rim, wide flat bamboo strips tie the rim tight and hence gave strength and stop deformity of rim through time. Such construction technique causes this basket to become strong and display culture of utter craftsmanship of Toda tribe. Such baskets are common woven and supplied to the Toda tribe for multipurpose usages, for example, food containers, firewood collectors, and crop storage. Each basket thus used by the tribe has seen so many generations to this modern day. In other words, these baskets testify both about the sustainable use of resources by the tribe as well as the skill of working with bamboo.
