The many indigenous and household tools are used by the Bita, a wooden bolt design- fused practical with indigenous- knowledge and resourcefulness, among many other practical forms.
It has two distinguished components: a long wood and conical wooden head. This head is circular and rough on its upper surface thereby giving a sturdy grip and enhancing the holding ability and durability. For locking mechanisms, most probably used for locking of doors, holding of animal pens, safety against various factors for granaries. The two bark strips are tightly wound around shaft at different intervals to ensure reinforcement and longevity. Natural plant bark made, these straps strengthen the system while speaking volumes about the tribe's judicious exploitation of local materials. An amalgamation of wood and bark makes the Bita powerful and environment friendly, reflecting the eco-centric life of the tribe.Bita is small, but for Binjhal people, it is of much significance in their daily lives because, as an accent in this respect, it may represent much more than just practical utility, and reflects a deep-rooted culture of the tribe that crafts such tools in both functional and cultural significance.
