short description
This tool is used for almost every activity from hunting to agriculture but features prominently in household activities-clearing forests, chopping wood and even preparing meals. In Nocte tradition, the Dao is more than just an object; it is a survival tool, a magic wand, and a warrior identity. Young boys of the community get a dao as part of their initiation, defining their entry into adulthood with the onus of responsibility for their actions.

The craft of making a Dao is indeed an intricate artisan skill where the "masters" have learnt the art from traditional iron-smelting and forging to the modernized forms as well as techniques. Most of these artisans still continue to forge with simple tools inherited from great-grandparents. Nowadays, because of the modernization of tools, the "Dao" is basically called a brand among molds and is always displayed in museums, cultural festivals, and tribal heritage exhibitions.
