short description
This helmet is designed in a conical manner because it consists in an internal framework made by weaving cane and bamboo strips reflecting the age-old proficiency of the community in natural fibrecraft. It is a circular base helmet covered with animal skin which is complete with hair for both protection and symbolic strength. The use of animal hide is often associated with status and valor in tribal warriors. Each helmet, besides serving the purpose of protecting during the ceremony or battle reenactments, also gets tribal identity, honor, and heritage. This very helmet is made of cane found locally, bamboo, and some skin of animals; all these materials are put together skillfully to render strong but lightweight protective gear. This headgear is mostly worn during festivals of tradition, dance performance, or exhibition of culture as a symbol of the warrior legacy of the Naga people.
