short description
The Fey is an arrow widely used and crafted in various designs by the Rabha tribe of the indigenous community, mostly found in the forest regions of Assam, Meghalaya, and West Bengal. Due to the close relationship maintained by the Rabhas with the natural order and forest ecology, they have developed tools for hunting that serve the purpose practically and carries great cultural value. Thus, the Fey represents their brilliance and skilled craftsmanship. The arrow in question has a long, slender, light-weight, flexible, and straight shaft of bamboo—properties it should ideally possess for stable flight. It has an iron-tipped arrowhead held to the shaft by a tang-insertion mode where the tang (the pointed extension of the arrowhead) is being forced into the hollow end of the bamboo. This does assure the durability and precision when the arrow is being propelled.

This does assure the durability and precision when the arrow is being propelled.
At the back end of the Fey, feathers are carefully tied, aiding in the direction of flight and maintaining a balance in the air. A notch is also provided at the rear end of the shaft, where the arrow can rest while being drawn on the bowstring. These design characteristics impart the Fey with great dexterity in projective accuracy, so much so that small game constitutes its primary target in the hunting exploits taking place in the thickly lidded forests. Symbolically, however, the Fey functions to paint the essence of the tribal man's endowed harmony with nature and the cherished age-old traditions that characterize his own people as self-sufficient, supported by survival, and thriving on indigenous knowledge.
