The construction of this smoking pipe symbolizes proficiency of the Mizo in utilizing local resources like tin and iron to make a handy and practical design alongside artistry. Smoking, especially through such pipes, has a social significance for the Mizo people. Smoking would associate much more with men in the Mizo society; nonetheless, Mizo ladies too utilize such pipes at some social situations such as during festivals and community functions. It is a functional item, with symbolic meanings of cultural identity, Mizo women's smoking pipe, derivative of the traditions and social practices of the tribe.
