This is a plaster bust of a Kol man, who comes from the Kol tribe of Madhya Pradesh-one of the oldest and most culturally rich indigenous communities in India. Set on a circular pedestal, the bust is an important ethnographic document for the physical characteristics commonly attributed to the Kol people.The figure has straight hair and a flat nose, both of which are adequate description of this community along ethnic lines.
