While this comb is used mainly by women, it forms a part of their traditional attire and can also enhance the Bhuiya women's overall appearance. Metal strips may also indicate social status or ornament, more elaborate designs signifying perhaps higher status or greater wealth within the community. The Bhuiya tribe is renowned for their fantastic accomplishments in working woods and bamboos and continues making these kinds of combs in their old tradition passed down from ancestors to be used during special occasions of ceremonies or life events as gifts to the rich heritage and culture of the tribe.
