short description
This Metal Bell is an exclusive and exquisite original artifact that is handmade by the tribe of the Apatani of Arunachal Pradesh. The bell is completely unique and differs in form as it has no striker and intricate designs on its surface designed after the most vasu artistic heritage of the Apatanis. Traditionally, these types of bells have had ritualistic, cultural, and utilitarian relevance, linking the tribe to their age-old traditions of metalworking and craftsmanship.
Casting refers to pouring melted metal, usually brass or bronze, into a mold for the desired bell shape and letting it solidify. Then after the bell has been solidified artisans etch complex patterns on its surface for a unique artistic finish. Since there is no striker it could perhaps have been used to indicate something or as decorative, or ceremonial rather than such usage that produces sounds in a conventional manner. Such bells could have been tied to animals, used for rituals, or even used as jewelry.
