The Lambadi girdle is a very unique kind of tribal ornament attributed to the Lambadi (Banjara) tribe. Across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Karnataka, the Lambadi community has a long, historical tradition of embroidery and mirror work and very intricate ornamentation designs.

It is an ornament that actually signifies heritage, identity, and status. It is used with other jewelry like a necklace or anklets and bangles, in different events like festivals, along with dancing, in weddings. This probably shows how the beads speak to the art of the tribe in creating very strong and appealing items.
In ancient times, Lambadi women used gold and silver jewelry and ornaments, which were heavy enough to compensate for all the jibes. Girdles complemented their ghagras and odhnis in colors, heightening their look.
Today, the museums and cultural institutions are involved in their preservation and promotion. Artifacts on this line are found at the National Museum, New Delhi, providing yet another glimpse of the glorious heritage that the creation of art leaves in its wake and connects the tribe with its tradition.
