These are prime types of weaving ingenuity and knowledge of the natural resources of the tribe. Khond bamboo baskets are large, flat, square-shaped containers with their four corners at the bottom. They are more or less practical storage baskets. The splits of bamboo with which they are made render the basket very strong yet supple, which offers an ideal container for the storage of all forms of goods ranging from rice and grains to domestic articles. This basket also has the fine craftsmanship of fixing hard bamboo splits on the upper part to form a sturdy rim that contributes to the round-the-hour life of use and robustness in the structure.

These bamboo baskets are an integral part of Khond life and exemplify their skill in utilizing materials available in the surrounding area. Baskets are most frequently used at harvesting time and in ordinary household chores, fitting well into the economic pattern of the tribe's agricultural life. The designs of these baskets signify the tribe's elaborate knowledge of weaving and material strength, which were passing down for generations. Thus, Khond bamboo baskets have a functional purpose and act as a part of the culture and heritage connected to their customary craftsmanship that has been in use within their daily lives.
