Crescent-Shaped Bridal Head Ornament
description
An exceptionally unique bridal ornament, which is exclusively used by Lambadi women in their wedding ceremonies, vividly represents their rich decorative traditions and symbolic artistry. This has been christened Basingamulu Trinket and crafted in that typical half moon (crescent) shape-mark of feminine grace and celestial blessings.
This ornament is very intricately made out of very small metal balls, cotton balls, and bell-shaped metallic pieces. The colorful dyed cotton pieces beautify and contrast with the heaviness of the metallic sections while catching the tinkling of bells on moving with great allure to the other senses that are not of vision. Worn traditionally on the forehead or crown of the head, this ornament accentuates a bride more but signifies who she has become and is going to be as she embarks on yet another life stage. Use of resources, such as cotton and metal crafting techniques, tells about Lambadi craft-their uniqueness because they can blend functionality with very important aesthetic symbolism.
