This gourd shell vessel mainly serves the purpose of storing rice beer, the traditional alcoholic drink made from fermented rice. The rice beer is culturally significant within the Adi tribe as it is usually enjoyed during festivities, rituals, and social gatherings. The design of the vessel ensures that the beer is kept safely and easily accessible during ceremonial events or even daily consumption.
