The wooden skulls signify the warrior past of the Naga when he cut heads as a rite of passage and as a symbol of valor. The spear and dao further strengthen that symbolism since they were used for hunting, defense, and warfare. The wooden pot might serve a functional or ritual purpose in the community feasts or sacrificial offerings. The entire arrangement comes complete with adornments of animal hair, the latter a common ornamentation on Naga ceremonial articles, symbolic of valor, strength, and a link with nature and ancestral spirits.Every individual object is significant to the cultural expressions and spiritual beliefs of that tribe. The craftsmanship is a high degree of skill in woodworking possessed by the Naga and passed down for generations. It is representative of culture and history and is, most importantly, a lens through which one can view the Naga, in which warfare, agriculture, crafts and spirituality intermingled.
