short description
Currently, this specimen of the cane strip bamboo vessel is form and functional to the Adi people of Arunachal Pradesh, a northeastern state of India. The Adis place a lot of value in craftsmanship and its relatedness to nature reflected through the tools and implements they make. The bamboo vessel is the best example of Adi ingenuity and resourcefulness. Cylindrical vessel construction notes strength, lightness, and versatility. Bamboo can withstand even the roughest uses, and unlike other materials, it will not be stressed for the longer endurance of holding liquids. The cane strip handle made with two handles is woven expertly into the handle and attached to the body of the vessel. The handles are tied on one end to an interfacing woven band around the middle of the vessel and at the opposite end fastened by passing it through a couple of convenient holes at the base so as to make the handle shamelessly functional.

It seals the contents of the vessel and thus becomes an important aspect of its preservation. In the case of liquor, such a substance has a very culturally significant place in Adi society and is used on several occasions for social and ritualistic purposes. The Cane Strip Bamboo Vessel is therefore a storage object having considerable metaphorical value of rich tribal tradition. They also prove water artisans informative about harmonious living with nature. Crafting such artefacts as these vessels would prove an economic means of using the plenty of natural materials available around them as much as they would serve primary use to subsist and culture practices sustainable in both ecology and culture.
