In Sikkim, the cultural tradition talks of the agriculture and pastoralism of the Bhutia community and furnishes this really fine competitive proof and example of an innovation in sustainable craft-well-upholstered with local materials like bamboo and wood. The churn mainly churns curd for butter preparation, which is one food type for the Bhutia in making ghee and butter tea.It means there are two very important components. One is a large cylindrical body manufactured from heavy sections of bamboo. The other sequences from the same end of this body and is sealed on that end due to a natural node of bamboo, forming a very strong base. The other one has a long wooden pole; at one end of this pole, it keeps resting on the inside of the bamboo pipe; whereas the other end of the pole terminates into a disc-like circular piece of wood acting as an agitator when the churning goes on. The way churning goes is by holding that rod and pumping or rotating it, with the disc imparting motion to the curd and separating butter out of the whey.

Then again, it is not only churner; it can show the real eco-friendly arrangement of the Bhutias mostly using the possibilities of bamboo and wood, the naturally biodegradable and sustainable material, which would minimize maintenance using sustainable means: very easy and skilled workmanship, hence making extremely light yet quite durable tool at such easy workmanship with the method very well known from one generation to go.Indigenous wham common household items reveal how good perceptions have been made by indigenous societies of their environments and the importance of being self-sufficient as well.
