description
The front wall of Kunemechi is most beautifully carved with mithun and buffalo skulls, among the skulls of hunted animals. Each of these decorative carvings has deep symbolic values highlighting the owner's hunting prowess, generosity, and ability to provide for the village. Furthermore, these decorations partially serve as a historical account of his achievements and contributions to the community.
The construction and decoration of each Kunemechi represent the Chakhesang Naga values of honor, social responsibility, and communal harmony. The contemporary lifestyle has nonetheless begun to dilute these time-honored practices; yet, Kunemechi distinctly manifests tribal heritage, still preserved through oral traditions and cultural festivals.
